One Of Those Days!

Deep breath in...let it out, deep breath in...let it out....

Today has been one of those days! You know what I'm talking about...you wake up a little cranky, your back is a little sore because you slept funny, maybe it's that time of the month, you are irritable and your kids can't seem to get along right from the get go..yes..one of those days!
 
Well lucky for me (and my family!!!), I have three super awesome oils to help get me out of this funk! I have to share these oils with you right this moment because they have saved my life today!  Ok so maybe I'm being a little overdramatic but I am because I can!


The first oil sent to me from the angels is called Clarycalm and it is another one of doTERRA's AMAZING blends in fact all three oils I'm talking about today are! This is their women's monthly blend and it really does work like a charm!

My favorite way to experience this oil is to put a drop of it in my hands, cup and inhale. I LOVE the way this oils smells and can help calm me down immediately!

I roll it on my abdomen for cramps and within moments I am feeling better! This oil blend is definitely in my top 10 must have essential oils!


The second of my savior oils is called Balance and it does exactly what the name implies. This is doTERRA's grounding blend and it is geared towards the body's central nervous system.

I love to massage this oil on the back of my neck and along my spine on my lower back. This one helps me with anxiety and mood swings and takes about 10 or so minutes to really kick in! You can also put a drop in your hands, cup and inhale!

 The last, but definitely not least, oil blend that I use it Serenity and like Balance, it does exactly what it's name implies!! This is doTERRA's calming blend and it's one of my favorites, especially when layered with Balance!

I typically apply Serenity in the same spots I've applied the Balance. I like to wait a minute in between oils to give them a chance to soak in individually because I find that, at least for me, this helps the oils to work more effectively! It's a fantastic stress reducer and helps to lower blood pressure.

The Balance and Serenity are also great for anyone (including children) who deals with ADD, ADHD, Autism and/or bi-polar disorders. There are so many different ways these oils can be used and it's amazing the results you see! Don't believe me? Try them..I promise you will thank me!

Essential Oils vs. OTC Medications - A Medicine Cabinet Makeover!

Oh how I love my medicine cabinet makeover!  I think everyone needs one. It's amazing how many medications I've accumulated for all kinds of different ailments. I had Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Aleve for different degrees of headaches, tums for heartburn, pepto for tummy issues, allergy meds...my list goes on and on. What's even worse, I start to think about all of the side effects, short and long term, and it's a little scary to wonder hat kind of damage I've done to my body.

NOT ANYMORE!!!

Now I am not saying to cut all OTC or prescription medications out of your life and only use essential oils from now on because I do believe that sometimes our bodies my need more than what we can give them and I am most definitely not saying to ignore your doctors orders! I am simply sharing information and my experiences to encourage you to really look at your medicine cabinet to see if there are any safer, cheaper, more effective ways to treat yourself. Again, doTERRA does not claim to treat or cure illness, the oils are simply a safe and effective to assist the body in healing itself! 

One of the things I get asked a lot is aren't essential oils more expensive than over the counter medications. In most situations, they aren't. This picture helps to give an idea of the cost comparison using doTERRA CPTG essential oils vs. OTC medication. (The doctor visit cost is assuming you have insurance, without could be several hundreds of dollars)

 



 I LOVE the versatility of essential oils! Unlike OTC medications where you have a limited use for each individual medication, you can use essential oils for so many different things. You can use them on their own, but you can also layer them or mix them together using tried and true recipes. The flu shot in a bottle is one of my most used recipes in my house! Anyone starts to get the sniffles and I have my roller bottle out, rubbing this mix onto the bottoms of their feet. Works wonders for my family!

You've Got Your Oils...Now What?

If you are anything like me, you ordered your oils and then waited impatiently for the mailman to drop them off in within the next couple of days (yes, doTERRA typically ships that quickly) and when they arrive, you rip open the box ready to use everything! You start pulling out your oils and realize that you aren't exactly sure what to do with them. 

There are 3 ways you can you doTERRA essential oils!

 

 

 

 AROMATICALLY- Breathe in, or use a diffuser to kill germs in the air, open airways and/or affect mood, including depression!

INTERNALLY- This method is specific to doTERRA essential oils! You can take them in a gel capsule, under your tongue or in a glass of water to help relieve issues in the digestive tract, mouth & throat, liver and urogenital tract. There are a few oils that should not be ingested so be sure to do your research!

TOPICALLY- Apply oils to localized areas, from the bottom of your feet, the oils enter your blood stream within 30 seconds! Apply to head, feet, ears, chest and/or the back of the neck!

 

 

 

 A perfect example of an oil that can be used for all three of these way is the OnGuard! It is my favorite doTERRA oil blend and by far the oil I use the most on my family and in my home! I diffuse OnGuard in my home to kill germs in the air and to provide immune support to myself and my family. I use it to wipe down doorknobs, cupboard handles, the phone, and anything else might get handled a lot.  I also use OnGuard daily in capsules as an added boost to my immune system and if I'm feeling especially punky that day, I might add a drop or two under my tongue to help get rid of any yuckies that might be brewing.  If me or anyone in my family have a cold, sore throat, or other flu symptoms, I'll pull out my OnGuard and massage a drop into the bottoms of each foot to fight them! I LOVE OnGuard!!!

 

 

I recommend that before you use any essential oils, as I mentioned above, do your research!  Make sure you have a general idea of how each oil works so you can get the most benefit from using them. There might be times when you need to use an oil with a carrier oil like olive oil, or fractionated coconut oil because of sensitive skin, or because you are using a "hot" oil like Oregano, Clove, Cinnamon and Thyme so you will definitely want to know what you are working with!

With springtime upon us, my allergies are going bananas!!  Luckily, I have my doTERRA Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint on hand to make myself an allergy shot! 2 drops of each as the picture states every couple of hours and I am a happy camper.  The best part...I didn't have to put any kind of medication into my body! Every now and then, I run into someone who isn't a huge fan of doing this as a shot, so they put the drops in a HPMC vegetable capsule and they are good to go!

Earn Money With A doTERRA Wholesale Account!

Are you interested in earning money with doTERRA? doTerra is a great company for anyone looking for supplemental income! I am a stay-at-home mom and I know several others involved with doTERRA who are either homemakers as well, they work from home or work outside the home and  just want a little extra cash. doTERRA really is a great company to work with, they have a really great MLM compensation plan with some of the top MLM earners ever. 

I hadn't intended on getting involved in the earning side of doTERRA when I first signed up but once I got the oils in my home and started using them, I couldn't help but share with family and friends.  I even had people approaching me about the oils after seeing general oil info posts I'd made on Facebook. I have found that the oils literally sell themselves! So many people struggle with health problems and these days with the way the health system is going, many people are looking for alternative health care.  doTERRA does not claim to treat or cure illness, the oils are simply a safe and effective to assist the body in healing itself!  doTERRA really helps to find a healthy and safe solution to practically every health problem you can think of!

Committing to the Loyalty Rewards Program (LRP = monthly auto-ship program), you qualify for the free product of the month as long as you meet the requirements, you can also earn points towards free products. Your LRP order is easily changed anytime during the month up to 24 hours before it is set to process.

Now for the compensation plan!  There are several ways to earn with doTERRA!

-You can buy the products at the Wholesale prices and turn around and sell them to the public for retail, keeping the difference.  I've seen several Wellness Advocates doing this at craft shows and in little shops, it's a great way to earn a little extra!

-You can refer people to your website (you automatically get one when you sign up for a Wholesale account) and make 25% commission off any retail orders placed there. They do not have to sign up for anything this way and you do not have to have a monthly order or LRP for this, you just have to be an "active" Wellness Advocate.

-You can invite people to sign up with doTERRA under you, as a preferred customer or with a Wholesale account, and receive bonuses and commission off of their purchases, as well as anyone they have sign up under them, and anyone that signs up under them...the levels can get pretty deep!

 

Let's talk about the BONUSES!! (You can check your back office at anytime to see what your rank is and where you are at with all of the bonuses.)



The Fast Start - As long as you have a 100pv (personal volume) LRP order (typically 1pv=$1), you will receive a 20% commission off anything your new Wellness Advocate orders in the first 60 days. This bonus is paid out weekly and it adds up fairly quickly as most people like to place a bigger order at the beginning to try out the different oils.




The Power of Three- This can be a great monthly bonus!  If you and 3 Wellness Advocate under you commit to a minimum of 100pv LRP order each month with a combined total of 600ov
(organizational volume), then you get a $50 bonus for each month in which this happens. If you can get those 3 Wellness Advocates to duplicate this with their own first level 3 Wellness Advocates, then you get $250 in each month this happens.  Then if you can get their next level to duplicate this, you make $1500 in each month this happens. This might take a little work and definitely some time, but wouldn't it be nice to be making an extra $1500 each month!



Unilevel Organizational Bonus-
Consultant (Level 1): You have to have a 100pv or more LRP order to get this bonus.  You will be paid 2% of all purchases made by Wellness Advocates that you personally have signed up after their first 60 days. (Remember the first 60 days are where you earn the Fast Start bonus)

Manager and Up (Level 2-7): This is where the people who have signed up under you, have people sign up under them. In order for you to receive the 3% payout from your 2nd level (the deeper the level, the higher your commission % ), you have to meet the Manager requirements (your own personal 100pv LRP monthly order and at least a 500ov). I personally LOVE the way this is set up!  It's set up to be more team oriented so you work with your team to build your/their downline.  I've seen several different MLM where the attitude has been "every man for himself" and doTERRA is definitely not like that!

I want Essential Oils but where do I start?

Where to Start!

I knew I wanted the essential oils, and I knew I wanted to get them from doTERRA but now
what? There are a couple of different ways you can buy doTERRA oils, you can pay retail (gross!), you can sign up as a preferred customer and get 20% off all products, or you can sign up for a wholesale account and get 25% off all products, access to the free products of the month, the loyalty rewards program and commissions from people who sign up under you if you choose to get into the business aspect of doTERRA.

I was only looking to buy the oils, not interested in doing any of the business stuff(I am not a good salesperson!) so I huffed and puffed a bit about which membership to sign up for.  Here is the part where I have to come clean...I am CHEAP!! 

My family is a one income family and so even a 5% discount difference is VERY attractive to me! The free monthly oil is connected to the loyalty rewards program and I wasn't ready to get into all of that yet so I kept it simple..bigger discount! I bit the bullet and decided on the wholesale account.

I had a list of kits that doTERRA offers and a list of specific ailments for myself and my family that I wanted to treat but the kits were so overwhelming, I decided to sit down and first figure out which specific oils I was going to need.  By the time I was finished, that list was as long as my arm...and I have long arms!

I decided to go with the Family Physician enrollment kit with the slim & sassy oil because:

#1. The price of the kit included the $35 enrollment fee and I'd definitely prefer to use that money for oils!
#2. It fit in my family's budget!

#3.This kit had all of the oils I thought I needed to start off with, and had other ones that I wanted to try.

Why doTERRA?

Why doTERRA?  I find that this is the question I get asked the most! I started looking into doTERRA specifically because I had several friends using this brand and hey, if they work for people you love and trust, why wouldn't you check them out first right? So I got online and started looking up different brands to compare just to make sure all of my bases were covered before making my final decision. It definitely wasn't a hard decision for me to make and it didn't take me very long to decide that doTERRA was the company for me and my family!

There are A LOT of companies out there that sell essential oil!  Now I want clear something up right from the get go...just because a company boasts that their products are 100% organic or wild crafted, that does not mean that those products are pure or therapeutic when being packaged and sold.  The dictionary definition of organic is "relating to, yielding, or involving the use of food produced with the use of feed or fertilizer of plant of animal origin without employment of chemically formulated fertilizers, growth stimulants, antibiotics or pesticides." which basically just means that the plant is grown without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, nothing else in that definition is taken into consideration. Also the term "wild crafted" just means that the plant was grown outside in a "wild" habitat and not necessarily in a region that is the most beneficial to getting the highest quality oils.

While doTERRA came highly recommended to me from friends, that wasn't the only thing drawing me to this company.  Not only are the plants grown and harvested in their natural habitat, they are 100%  Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG), beyond organic, verified pure, and free of fillers, pesticides and foreign contaminants. How do I know this?  Because doTERRA does 3rd party testing to ensure their oils are pure, genuine, authentic and potent and the results are certified to show this!




Every other company that I looked up did their own testing, in-house.  That is a HUGE red flag for me! The testing most essential oil companies do are ONLY to ensure specific required constituents are present in the oil, and they don't test the therapeutic levels of those constituents. They do not test for things that shouldn't be there (like weeds which also can be organic)! I absolutely cannot put my faith, my trust, my family's well-being, in the hands of a company that handles their own testing!

The other thing I did was read through reviews on amazon, and while reviews can sometimes be a little misleading and shaky, you can generally get a good idea of a product by reading through several if you can, and boy could I!  I wasn't comfortable with some thing that I read about a couple of the companies, one specifically that had to do with one of their founding members. Now whether these "rumors" are true or not, they just didn't sit right with me. In the grand scheme of things, I really didn't need to read the reviews to get involved with doTERRA, but they definitely helped solidify my decision!!

Spreading the love, one drop at a time!

After hmm-in and haw-ing for several weeks, I've decided what better way to share my love of essential oils with the world! Specifically, doTERRA essential oils! Now some of you are probably wondering why doTERRA...well, I will be getting into that in my next blog post so keep checking back for that one.

Just over 2 years ago, a couple of friends of mine got into doTERRA. I avoided the oils, worrying about the smells and stigma that came along with those. Just wasn't me! I was also concerned because I struggle with migraines, ear infections, strep throat, a general, all around, crappy immune system and I just didn't think the oils would work for me, especially with migraines and the strong scents. 

While I listened to my friends brag about how successful essential oils were with them and their families, I kept my distance.

About once a year I get a moment of "I give up, I will try anything" when I am really sick and so I called my friend Jenny from down the road, who was using the oils daily, and begged her to help me out...make me a magic, oily potion that will cure me on the spot. I know, it was unrealistic and I didn't really understand the oils so I really thought that was going to be it! Jenny showed up at my door step moments later with two bottles, OnGuard and Oregano...my hero!! So I thanked her profusely and waited for her to leave before taking a whiff of both bottles. 

The OnGuard is one of doTERRA's blends and I took a BIG whiff!!  The citrus notes of the wild orange were what hit me first followed by a subtle cinnamon scent..it smelled a little hot and I was a big chicken so I put the cap back on and moved on to the oregano.


Now let me just start by saying that I typically do not like the herb Oregano..shocking right! I don't mind it on a pizza or in spaghetti sauce, but I don't like the strong smell or flavor of it so I will not use it if I am cooking. 

I took a whiff of the oregano and was unimpressed! It reminded me a lot of the herb that I dislike and I decided that I was going to fight this nasty cold on my own. (Sorry Jenny!) 

Almost $400 later, between the doctor and antibiotics, I was feeling better.

The oils went up in a cupboard and out of my mind. 




Two years later...

I am fighting off ANOTHER nasty cold less than a week after getting rid of one before and this time, I had shared with my son and my husband and we were ALL miserable! I could feel it moving into my ears and down into my chest and that is never a good sign for me. Once again, I had reached the point of giving up, willing to try anything to save from another doctors visit, another round of antibiotics when it hit me that I still had the oils that Jenny had given me years before. I decided to do a little research before taking them down again and based on everything I found(I will be going over this in my next blog post!), I decided to go for it again!  I checked the expiration dates..still good, so I sent her a text asking what I needed to do.

She explained to me again what I needed to do and I focused just on using the OnGuard to start. I was diligent in using the oils on my husband and son, and both were feeling a lot better. I was less consistent on myself and found that while I wasn't really feeling any better, I wasn't feeling any worse either...until I ran out!  I lasted about a day before I gave in, signed up for the Wholesale account and ordered more oil right away. Waiting for the mail to come was the longest 3 days of my life and the minute the oils were dropped off, I had the box open and was using them before the mailman was out of our cul-de-sac.
